Fire Resistant Glazing
Here at Prentice, we are delighted to supply fire resistant glazing and give advice to a range of businesses. Our double glazing company is accredited by various fire safety industries. These include The Glass and Glazing Federation, FENSA and The Glazing Arbitration Scheme.
Our team of glass London experts ensure all our designs and installations meet fire regulations, in accordance with The Fire Safety Act of 2021. With 70 years of experience and one of the oldest glazing companies in London, you can be confident that our glass specialists will adhere to the highest standards in both commercial and residential properties.
It is important to understand the basic terms of fire safety and the value of fire-rated glass products. A fire door can become defective and fail the Fire Safety Act.
This can occur if there is even a little gap between the doorframe and the glass products. All parts must be compatible, rattle-free, and fire-rated. They should demonstrate to tenants and fire risk assessors that the fire-rated doors can withstand for at least 30 minutes.

Framing and glazing systems
It is of utmost importance that all components in a fire resistant glazing system are fire rated and compatible.
The whole system would be deemed to fail should any single item within them ignite on the cold face, for more than ten seconds or allow a small gap in a system through which flames or ignitable gasses pass.
Integrity
The ability of a specimen of a separating element to contain a fire to specified criteria free from collapse, holes, cracks and fissures and sustained flaming on the unexposed face.
Impact safety standards
Fire glasses and wired glass can no longer be excluded from impact safety requirements. These are clearly set out in Building Regulations and codes of practice
Insulation
The ability of a specimen of a separating element to restrict the temperature rise of the unexposed face to below specified levels
