Welcome New Apprentices!
Prentice Glass are a family-run glazing company, with over 70 years of experience in the glazing industry. As one of the oldest glazing companies in London, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality services to both commercial and domestic buildings.
We understand the importance of training new talent and developing skillsets in young people wanting to go into the glazing industry. So, we strive to work with accredited federations that offer programs to aid this.
The Glass and Glazing Federation
The Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) is the main representative organisation in the glazing industry; for both commercial and residential sectors. These members ensure that the manufacturing and installation of glass and glazing are to the highest standards in the industry. Their new Skilled Pathways Scheme aims to beat Government targets for recruiting in the glazing sectors.
Currently, there is a lack of workers in the glazing industry and the government predicts that there an additional 500,000 employees will need to enter by 2050; including glass repair and glass fabrication. And that’s where the Skilled Pathways Scheme comes in.
Prentice Glass
We are pleased to announce we have three new apprentices joining Prentice to become glaziers! Introducing Daniel, Harvey and Charlie to the trade.
Our general manager, Joanne Jackman, has said:
“Being one of the oldest glazing companies in London, we know how important it is to get young glaziers trained in the industry. Being part of the GGF has meant that we have half of the training costs funded, providing an excellent opportunity for the apprentices and the company.”
We want to use our many years in the industry to train apprentices from the ground up; ensuring they have all the skills required to further their careers in a glazing company. No two days are the same at Prentice; our apprentices will get valuable on-hand experience dealing with emergency glazing, bespoke glass design and installations. All side by side with experienced glazing professionals.
